Trust, n. - a firm belief or confidence in the honesty, integrity, reliability, justice, etc. of another person or thing; faith; reliance. (Webster's New World Dictionary, Third College Edition, Copyright 1991 by Simon & Schuster, Inc.) Trust is difficult. It must be earned and, once earned, it
must be maintained. It is hard to give. For once it is given, you are vulnerable. It is non-tangible and fragile. It is only to be given to those that are worthy of it. How do you know whom to trust? Especially with something as important as a mission-critical software project. You could hire additional staff, if you have the budget, but that requires additional management. Wouldn't it be nice to have someone you could turn this project over to and know that it will be done correctly the first time
